Silymarin
Silymarin has beneficial effects in chronic liver diseases caused by oxidative stress such as alcoholic and non-alcoholic fatty liver diseases, drug- and chemical-induced hepatic toxicity. Liver cirrhosis, non-alcoholic fatty liver and steatohepatitis can be one of the major causes for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Several studies and clinic trials have established that silymarin exerts membrane-stabilizing and antioxidant activity as well as promotes hepatocyte regeneration. It also reduces the inflammatory reaction and inhibits the fibrogenesis in the liver. The long tong-term administration of silymarin significantly increases survival time of patients with alcohol induced liver cirrhosis. 

L-Ornithine L-Aspartate 
L-Ornithine L-Aspartate has shown a statistically significant effect with respect to reduction in Hepatic Encephalopathy (HE) grade, reduction of blood ammonia concentration and positive effects on psychomotor function in patients of cirrhosis with minimal HE and overt chronic Grade I HE. However, there is lack of data on the efficacy of LOLA in patients with overt acute hepatic encephalopathy which is one of the major causes of hospital admissions and resource utilization in decompensated cirrhotics. 

L-ornithine-L-aspartate may be safe when taken by mouth or given with a needle (by IV). Side effects may include nausea, vomiting, cough, muscle cramping, and diarrhea in case of IV administration. Not enough is known about the use of L-ornithine-L-aspartate during pregnancy and breast-feeding. 

Dosage
Adults: 140 mg PO TID
Children: 5-10 mg/kg/day PO in 2-3 divided doses
