Indications
Contraindications
Cefpodoxime is contraindicated to the patient with hypersensitivity with cephalosporin.
Precautions & Warnings
Before therapy AGEXTIL-50 (Cefpodoxime 50 mg) Dry Syrup is instituted, careful inquiry should be made to determine whether the patient has had previous hypersensitivity reactions to cephalosporin, penicillins.
AGEXTIL (Cefpodoxime) is broad-spectrum antibiotics and should be prescribed with caution in individuals with a history of colitis.
Adverse Reaction
AGEXTIL-50 (Cefpodoxime 50 mg) Dry Syrup may cause side effects like diarrhea, nausea, vaginal infections, headache, abdominal pain, mild skin rashes, hives, chest pain, and irregular heart beat.
Drug Interactions
Dosage
Children Bronchitis: Acute bacterial exacerbation of chronic bronchitis: 12 years or older: 200 mg orally every 12 hours for 10 days.
Cystitis: 12 years or older: 100 mg orally every 12 hours for 7 days
Gonococcal Infection – Uncomplicated: Uncomplicated urethral, cervical, or female anorectal infections: 12 years or older: 200 mg orally one time
Gonococcal Infection – Disseminated: 12 years or older: 400 mg orally twice a day
Otitis Media: 2 months through 12 years: 5 mg/kg/dose (maximum 200 mg) orally every 12 hours for 5 days; Maximum dose: 400 mg/day
Community-acquired pneumonia: 12 years or older: 200 mg orally every 12 hours for 14 days
Sinusitis: 2 months through 12 years: 5 mg/kg/dose (maximum 200 mg) orally every 12 hours for 10 days. Maximum dose: 400 mg/day. 12 years or older: 200 mg orally every 12 hours for 10 days
Uncomplicated Skin or Soft Tissue Infection: 12 years or older: 400 mg orally every 12 hours for 7 to 14 days
Tonsillitis/Pharyngitis: 2 months through 12 years: 5 mg/kg/dose (maximum 100 mg) orally every 12 hours for 5 to 10 days. Maximum dose: 200 mg/day. 12 years or older: 100 mg orally every 12 hours for 5 to 10 days.
